Community Events

If you have a community event or know of one, you can send the info as a comment and I i will post it. I will also post info on yard sales. I am not sure how the final layout will look here so consider this a work in progress.

Jeff,
SOUNDS LIKE A GREAT IDEA...I only hope that folks will keep it a clean and informative blog. It could be a great service to the city. I hope that politics will take a back seat, and that people will use it for it's intended purpose. Keep up the good work!

Thanks I will not be allowing anything political and or negative on this site. Everybody needs to save that for the new site.

I've seen several reports on the Internet stating the University of Alabama was considering coming to the MGCC in Gautier, to utilize the facilities that MSU vacated. That would be grand. It would give those having to drive to Mobile a place closer to home to get their education...if the subjects offered are the same.

Jeff, I tried to open the "Suggestion Box", but I got and "error" message.

My suggestion was going to be, furnish a place for "Memory Lane". I have a few "old" photos that some of the older citizens might enjoy a look at (like the Old Lyons School photo, with all the students and teachers posed in front of it). Some of those students are still citizens of Gautier. I think it was taken in the mid or late 30's. I recognize some of the students, and I'm sure others will see themselves, their relatives, or friends in it. I also have a few other "old" photos of Gautier and Jackson County that some folks will find interesting.

I think you mean the University of South Alabama, not the University of Alabama. Alabama does offer electronic courses, but no class room instruction on the coast. South Alabama is a good University, and hopefully; there will be enough demand for them to continue within our city limits..especially since out of state tuition is not required.
